Aston Martin Lagonda Limited

is a British manufacturer of luxury performance cars, with their headquarters at Gavdon, England. The name is derived from the company’s original owner’s way back at the turn of the 20th century during a high point for the British Automotive Industry.

From 1994 until 2007 Aston Martin was a division of the ford Motor Company.

Aston Martin first came about in 1903 when two auto enthusiasts called Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford founded the company and began designing cars for the British Market. The to first created limited prototypes and ‘test’ cars. Their first ever real Aston Martin was finished in 1915 however it never achieved its well deserved success as both owners joined up for active service at the outbreak of the First World War.

The years post war seen quite a few Aston martins roll graciously off the production line, most notably the MKII which was a stunning, long-bodied, long hooded luxury car of the time and became desired by the upper classes. Aston’s trend of luxury continued up until Bamford decided to leave the company. Aston revived new investment and designers who gave the company a new formula, ‘Sports Performance and Luxury combined’.

The epitome of Aston’s new style came about during the David brown era. His initials would become the most legendary within the company, spawning the desirable DB series which continues to this present day and it just as popular as when it firs came out. The first DBs set the trend for the ones that would follow, low slung and high power. The DB would make an appearance in popular culture from magazines to TV shows, however the most notable being James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 in the film Goldfinger.

In 1991, ford received ownership of the company and placed it in its Premier Automotive Group. During this time the company saw some investment along with the expected success of such a prestigious company. However in 2006, Ford deemed the company to be invaluable to them at just over $900 million. In 2007, the company was bought by a broad range of international investors, however is today owned by Dave Richards, The CEO of a British based automotive company for £479 million with Ford retaining a stake of just under $90 million inn the company. A broad scene of owners clubs operate quite lively throughout the world and especially in the UK featuring both new and old models from the Aston martin Range.
