Flashy or decorative fonts are not allowable on Car Registration Plates, and only UK national flags are allowed: any other symbols, such as football team logos or religious symbols may not be displayed on private car number plates. The only variant font allowed on cherished number plates (such as YOR 2K) as an option by the regulations is a 3D version of the standard font. The size and spacing of characters on registration plates is also dictated. More information on cherished number plates character spacing is to be found elsewhere on this website.
The popularity of private car registrations is increasing in many ways. The number of people purchasing personal number plates is higher than ever before, and the prices they are paying for top examples are reaching record levels. There is simply no question that we are seeing a real boom in the appeal of cherished numbers, both as an investment and as a fun aspect to car customisation.
One of the most common reasons we hear for the purchase of a private registration is as a gift. At first thought it might not seem like the most obvious choice when it comes to selecting a birthday, Christmas or anniversary present, but a cherished car number plate is perfect in so many ways. How many other gifts are absolutely unique and personal, can make a personal statement about the owner, have practical benefits (such as making a car easy to spot in a crowded car park), and can offer real potential for later resale at a profit?
