The popularity of private car registrations is growing in many ways. The number of people buying personal number plates is higher than ever before, and the prices they are paying for top examples are reaching record levels. There is simply no question that we are seeing a real boom in the appeal of cherished numbers, both as an investment and as a fun aspect to vehicle customisation.
When choosing a personalised number plate, one must be aware that the selected registration plate must not be newer than the vehicle it is being paired with. This is because a newer plate on an older car would give the impression that the vehicle is more modern than it truly is. This applies to all registration numbers that have age-identifiers (introduced in 1963 to today). However, dateless registrations are also available. These are popular because they are succinct, extremely scarce, and can be displayed on any car.
Flashy or decorative fonts are not allowable on Car Registration Plates, and only UK national flags are allowed: any other symbols, such as football team logos or religious symbols may not be displayed on private car number plates. The only variant font allowed on cherished number plates (such as 21 OCT) as an option by the regulations is a 3D version of the standard font.
