Cherished Number Plates - Something just for you!

Cherished number plates are becoming more and more popular and are no longer out of reach for the average number plate enthusiast. They can also be referred to as cherished plates or cherished numbers. Owners usually get very attached to their registrations as it usually takes them a long time to find one that is just right for them, hence making every one as unique as their owner!

Most people like to find registrations, which are similar to their first name, initials or surname. Those finding plates looking like their surname tend to keep these registrations for two, three or even more generations of their family and it becomes a family heirloom in some cases!

The cherished number plates league

The most desirable registrations have a combination of one letter and one number. The lower the number, the more desirable the registration. The ultimate cherished number plate would be 'A 1'. Unfortunately nobody seems to know the exact location of this ultimate plate, but rumour has it that it has been spotted on a Mini in London. In this case the number plate is obviously worth far more than the car it’s on!

Other popular registration marks are those that look like people first names. For example L1 NDA, DAM 14N, TON 1, B1 LLS etc. The closer the registration looks like the name, the more prestigious it is perceived to be. There are also many registrations that look like words. These can range from the sublime, K1 NGS to the ridiculous, PEN 15!

There are numerous reasons why people buy registrations. Sometimes they buy them to remember or commemorate a special someone in their lives. It then fills then with a sense of serenity when they are in their car as it has that extra special meaning. Even though some registrations may not mean a lot to the average Joe public, it is the person driving the car that feels that little bit more special or ‘connected’ to their vehicle.

Some couples even get registrations that have both their names on it! The first part of the registration could contain one of their names, while the letters at the end of the registration could be the other person’s name. These registrations are usually bought when people get married, engaged or are celebrating and anniversary. What better way to show your love by getting something that will be a permanent reminder of it!
