The licensing body in Vancouver, Canada, has decided to release a new range of plates for its driving population to achieve more success which they have had with other plates. ‘Although ICBC says it's close to achieving its goals in selling Olympic licence plates, it's launching a new program to try to sell more.’ said one local publication.

The corporation says plate-holders now have a chance at winning Olympic hockey tickets.

So far about 130,000 British Columbians sport the colourful "Best Place on Earth" plates on their vehicles. These plates feature various slogans announcing various locations and local mottos. A brand new promotion gives licence owners a chance to win a pair of tickets to a men's hockey event during the Olympics. They body has made the new release even more attractive by offering buyers the opportunity to download their favourite songs for free.

ICBC's Adam Grossman says anyone who owns a plate before this coming March is eligible for the hockey draw. "It's partly a way to thank those people who have already purchased the plates, and to continue the momentum going up to the Games." The plates will be sold until the end of 2012.
