Sought-after Scottish number plate to go under the hammer

08 September 2008

Number Plate S 1

The first ever number plate to be released in Edinburgh is thought to be coming up for auction.

It is estimated that S 1 could reach as much as £250,000 when it goes under the hammer later in September.

The number plate will be sold on a DVLA V778 retention certificate which basically gives the owner the right to assign the registration to their vehicle.

The number will be auctioned at Bonhams' Goodwood Revival Sale in Chichester on the 19th of September, and they are expecting "significant interest".

Times may be tough for most of us, with the credit crunch biting hard, but for the sort of customer wishing to buy a plate like this one, money would seem to be no object!
