It has emerged that recently during the summer months Saeed Abdel Ghaffar Khouri has paid over $14.3 million dollars to have his desired set of plates. The Plate features just a number one, where as most other licence plates in the area carries a five digit number.
He made his purchase at a charity auction and is now said to be very proud of his new plates. However with the ever rising price of oil, and Abu Dhabi being one of the worlds leading suppliers, it’s no wonder why he can take the hefty price tag in his stride.
The deserts around the capital are literally bursting with oil with new discoveries becoming less of a headline news story and more of an everyday occurrence. It has also been estimated that the supply is substantial enough to last the country another 100 years at the current rate of consumption by the globe.
Abu Dhabi has come along way with the discovery of this oil, having just been a remote, secluded desert location, barely notable on a map as little as fifty years ago.
The area has attracted thousand of immigrants from all over the world including the UK. Many come to make a fortune as a real estate agent as the cost of property in the area soars due to high revenue achieved from the booming economy. Others come for the lifestyle and security of great facilities such as healthcare, to raise a family in a hospitable area.
Certainly, licence plates will continue to attract the country’s wealthy buyers at auctions and private sales each day throughout the capital and surrounding areas, as along with wealth comes desire.
