Correct Number Plates Are a Must! Say many officials
10 October 2008

Luxury car owners must make sure their vehicles have both number plates attached despite the trend towards new models not having provision for plates on grills and front bumpers.
New cars which are being released onto the market don’t have well placed areas for number plates unlike previous models.
It seems as though these new cars are taking style over the law, making it difficult for owners and sellers alike to lawfully position their licence plate on their vehicle.
Generally it’s the front of the vehicle which is neglected of the correct inlet for a licence plate, owing to the constantly growing trends associated with the luxury car being associated with modern R&B style culture.
Land Transport spokesman Andy Knackstedt says the increasingly popular sticker plates which are (to replace a conventional number plate because the lack of correct areas for number plates) attached to the windscreen are actually illegal.
He says the law specifies that the traditional plates issued by the registrar must be attached to the font and back of vehicles and every letter and number must be visible.
The issue of number plates being perfectly visible has also come to many transport agencies attention after an increasing amount of motorists have failed to clean their plates so that cameras and law enforcement officials can make them out.
The most common vehicle which have their plates obscured are 4x4s as they generally are used by tradesmen and rural settlers, thus causing mud and dust to become fixed on the car.
