Number plate recognition catches highflying crook

A group of four teenagers were apprehended by the authorities in Staffordshire and subsequently bailed awaiting additional investigation by the police. The group were arrested on suspicion of stealing bags while on the rides in Alton towers. They were aged between 11 and 13.

They obviously saw this as the perfect time to steal, as people were probably too busy screaming! Also the unaware victim would doubtless believe that their bag might have fallen off during the ride. However some of the victims obviously reported this to the staff at Alton Towers.

The Police used number plate recognition systems at Alton Towers to check who was visiting the attraction on a regular basis. Then in conjunction with the staff at Alton Towers they managed to home in on the suspects. They expect this method to yield more results in the future.
