Cherished Number Plates News
New car registrations hit rock bottom
04 September 2008

The number of new cars registered in August was the lowest of any August since England last won the World Cup (a LONG time!).
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said that the number of new cars registered was down over 18% to just over 63,000 compared with the same month last year.
It said that the credit crunch, and hence declining consumer confidence, plus the high price of petrol was affecting sales across Europe.
The top sellers overall in August were Vauxhall's Corsa and the Ford Focus.
