Cloned Number Plates

In the wake of a brutal double shooting, police in Glasgow have released the plate of the suspected car involved in the killings.

The victims George Redmond, 42, died and John McGuire was seriously injured after they were both shot at outside a pub on Cambridge street called the Waldorf pub. It is believed that the assailants made off in a Porsche Cayenne. In the hope of catching the killers, police have released the Porches number plate which is LJ05 FHR.

Police said enquiries had confirmed that the plates were false.

The officer in charge of the investigation, Det. Supt John Riggans, said the fake plates related to a similar car in the south of England.

"I am satisfied that the car in England bears the true plates and that the suspects cloned the Porsche Cayenne which was seen leaving the scene," he said.

Police are also trying to work out where the car was acquired from prior to the pub shooting. They have suggested it may have been bought prior to the brutal shooting from a dealer or a member of the public via private sale.

"It is vital that we trace this car and I am confident that with the assistance of the public and the determination and commitment of the enquiry officers, it is only a matter of time."
