Credit crunch hitting Bentley car production

The credit crunch had hit some of the luxury motorcar manufacturers with Bentley Motors aiming to cut its production by fifteen percent. Walter Owen Bentley founded the company in 1919. It is now owned by the VW group (Volkswagen) who bought the company in 1998.

The company has decided to cut production of some it’s models that don’t sell as well such as the GT convertible. Overall sales for the company have already fallen by sixteen percent this year.

Bentley Motors has decided to reduce production figures rather than drop prices of their models. The reason they have decided to do this is because if they dropped their prices, this would affect future and present resale values.

The VW group has used the hybrid technology developed by Bentley cars in their other brands. Ever since the VW group have taken over at Bentley, there have been rumours that Bentley cars would release a 4x4 model. However the company has dismissed these rumours as mere speculation.
