A obsessed fan of Paula Abdul who was mocked for her braces when she auditioned for American Idol has been found dead in an apparent suicide in a car near the home of the pop star and judge she adored.

Paula Goodspeed, Who was identified by her number plate dedicated to her idol and hero Paula Abdul and then by her devistated family auditioned for the popular reality singing show was mocked by here idol and by Simon Cowell for having braces and singing badly because of then.

Her body was discovered on Tuesday night in a car with the personalised number plate “ABL LV” in a Los Angeles Lakers frame, parked in a Los Angeles street not far from the home of the 80s pop singer, a former Lakers girl.

Investigators found prescription drugs in the 30-year-old’s car, along with Paula Abdul CDs and pictures. Her worried parents had reported the fan missing and said to police that they were concerned that she may be in a bad state and possibly even hurt herself. Little did they know that she would make the ultimate mistake.

“It appears to be a suicide by overdose,” Detective Robert Bub of the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Ms Goodspeed’s audition was aired during season five, which began in January 2006. She told the show’s host that she has been a huge fan of Ms. Abdul since she was a kid.

When she appeared in front of her idol Simon Cowell noted a physical resemblance to Ms Abdul, to which Ms Goodspeed replied "She's beautiful."

However following her performance of the Tina Turner hit Ms Abdul declared herself "speechless", going on to add: "That's not a good thing." Mr Cowell then went on to make fun of her braces saying he did not know how anyone could sing with “that much metal in their mouth."

“I am deeply shocked and saddened at what transpired yesterday,” Ms Abdul said in a statement. “My heart and prayers go out to her family.”
