New 58 Number Plate Craze

It has been reported that motorists are to spend almost £170 million collectively on new cars, with just less than half of customers taking out expensive finance packages, in order to be the proud owner of a "58" plate vehicle.

Around 400,000 new cars are expected to be sold in September after the new cherished number plates are released at the beginning of the month. A lot of these vehicles will be bought with the dealer's own finance, at interest rates of around 2.5 per cent higher than the cheapest unsecured personal loan.

Buyers could save on average £826 each on interest payments over 3 years, but it seems they will pay the extra to grab one of the new style plates while they can.
