Car makes:

In 2007, in excess of 70 million motor vehicles (including cars and lorries) were made worldwide. Chances are, if you bought one of those, your make is listed above.

The world's largest producer of motor vehicles is Japan, followed by the United States of America and then China. The UK languishes down in 12th spot behind the likes of Brazil, Mexico and India. The company with the largest output is Toyota (which includes brands such as Daihatsu and Lexus), closely followed by GM (which includes Vauxhall, Hummer, Pontiac, Chevrolet and Saab).

The next two manufacturing groups are Volkswagen Group, comprising the marks Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Skoda and SEAT, to name but a few, and then Ford, who also make Volvo and Lincoln cars, as well as holiding stakes in Mazda and Aston Martin.

Manufacturers who are not part of a large group like these are few and far between, but include Porsche, Isuzu and Hyundai.
